Introduction to Management Active Aging Today
Question: Discuss about the Introduction to Managementfor Active Aging Today. Answer: Introduction Alex has been appointed as Administrative Manager to resolve the issues of the company Active Aging Today (AAT). The company was established to provide good care to the aging people. The companys management has been facing issues and stress at the administration level as well as the level of CEO. After joining, Alex found that there are lot of strategic issues which needs address for the proper functioning of the organization. He found that people are working in the company for many years and are now resistant to change. The technology being used is out of date and people are not ready to embrace new technology and banking systems. Alex tried to involve management to improve the situation but the efforts have never been able to see the light of the day. Upon analyzing the situation of Active Aging Today, it is evident that the company needs certain changes. The changes are required from top to bottom hierarchical level of the company (Anderson, 2015). The CEO, Sally herself needs to put pressure on the staff to adopt new things which are going to be suggested in the coming sections. The President of the company, Gerard is passionate about his organization and tries to resolve all the issues as soon as possible. The issues of the company has already been identified by Alex. Some of the major issues that are being faced by the organization are as follows: The people in the organization are still using traditional ways of book keeping and cash accounting. They still write cheques. The technology being used is out of date. Staffs resistance to change management Low skillset of the people working in the company People are working for many years in the same organization and no employee has been fires till date. The company is more people oriented than process oriented. Upper managements involvement and agreement towards bring change in the entire organization The above describes the most important issues being faced by the organization which have been identified by Alex. These issues needs immediate attention of management otherwise it would be very much harmful for the success of the organization (Combe, 2014). The ways to handle the issues will be seen in the upcoming sections. The workers, may it be the field workers or the office workers, all should work productively towards the development of the organization (Frederickson, 2013). First of all, the traditional ways of doing things should be done away with. The Book Keeping activities as well as the cash accounting should all now follow the latest methods so that less time would result in maximum productivity (Giacalone, 2013). The management of small things is very much important. The technology being used in the organization is out of date. These needs to be replaced with the latest technology so that productivity can be increased. The people will feel the difference at the ground level. The resources which are working in the company are the main asset of the organization. At the same time, who have to work efficiently so that the organization should grow. The staff is posing resistance for using any new methods of doing things. The staff should be encouraged and motivated to use new technology. Some rewards and recognition can be brought in to effectively manage the change management situation (Kinicki, 2014). As soon as a batch of trained employees perform all the tasks in the newer methods, they can guide the next batch to undergo the training in a smooth manner. These trainings will also improve the skillset of the employees. There are many employees working in AAT whose skillset level is very poor. They need immediate attention otherwise it will be very much difficult for the organization to retain them. The upper management should get involved in all the decision sand should encourage the employees to learn new skills which will help them as well as the company. The people who have been for many years with the organization should be rewarded for their loyalty. However, at the same time, they should be given an option to learn new changes or to take voluntary retirement. This will make way for new entrants who will easily learn the things at AAT and the productivity will also be high (Hislop, 2013). The changes can be brought from top-down approach or from down-topo approach. The main focus should be towards better management of the company and towards fulfilling the main goal of giving quality life to aging people.
